Anindita Ghose is an author, editor, journalist and communications consultant based in Bombay, where she arrived as a newborn and still lives. She is the author of the best-selling novel The Illuminated, which was named among the best books of 2021 in the Indian press by Times of India, The Telegraph, Vogue and others. Upon its U.K. publication in 2023, BBC Radio 4 said it gives voice to a new generation. 

The Only City: Bombay in Eighteen Stories, an anthology of short stories edited by her, is out now by HarperCollins India.

Most recently, Anindita led strategic communications for a global social impact consultancy. In her fifteen-year career as a journalist, she has been the editor of the award-winning Saturday magazine Mint Lounge and the features director of Vogue India. Her writing across art, culture, books, food, travel and wellness has appeared in the Guardian, The Times, The Caravan, Index for Censorship, Esquire, Kinfolk, Vogue, Condé Nast Traveller and The Hindu Literary Review, among other publications.

Anindita has a master’s degree in arts journalism from Columbia University and a master’s degree in linguistics from the University of Mumbai. In 2019, she was awarded the Hawthornden Writing Fellowship in Scotland.
